At 8 Weeks and 2 Days and the first pictures of the baby...

As promised, here are the first pictures of the baby.

This first picture was taken on 2/8/08 at 6 weeks and 6 days. In this picture the baby is 6mm long.

In the second picture, taken on 2/18/08, the baby is 8 weeks and 2 days old and measures 18mm long.

The baby is growing quickly and developing well. (At least that's what they tell us. I can't really tell from the pictures but I'll take the doctor's word for it.)

Another 4 weeks and we'll be out of the 1st trimester! So keep holding out on spreading the word. I know its hard to do sometimes.

Thanks for voting in the baby name poll. We've gotten some feedback from a few of you that "Rylynn" should be spelled "Rilynn". Which do you prefer? Any other spellings we should consider? Any other names? Leave us a comment and let us know.

Thanks for stopping by and keep checking in for more updates.

At 7 weeks...

I am now 7 weeks pregnant and happy as ever! I have had a few spells of nausea and fatigue, but overall I feel pretty good! I am definitely looking forward to being out of my first trimester, and I know my nurse is looking forward to that as well since I call her almost daily with questions and/or concerns. I guess that is normal for a newly expecting mother (at least I like to think so!).

I am very excited about becoming a mother and look forward to what the next 7 1/2 months (or 21+ years) will bring!

The news is out....(sort of)

Last night Brooke and I broke the news of our pregnancy to our immediate families. Brooke's family and my family all came to our house to celebrate the good news. It was exciting to see how happy everyone was at the thought of a new baby in the family. This is my parent's first grandchild so they were extremely excited (after a few moments of letting the news sink in). Uncle Jeff seemed a bit stunned at the news - I think we caught him off gaurd! We had to tell my sister over the phone; I can only describe her reaction as deafening. Brooke's family, who found out a day before, was there to share in the excitement of the McKillop family. They are excited about the addition of another grandchild to pal around with Gabbie and Coen.

Because Brooke is still in the first trimester of pregnancy, we have decided not to tell extended family until a few more weeks. It will be fun to get their reaction as well.

Brooke had a doctor's appointment on Friday, where we could see the heartbeat on the ultrasound. This was an important milestone in the baby's development and also makes Brooke approximatley 7 weeks pregnant. Brooke's next doctor's appointment is on Friday, February, 29th and we should be able to actually hear the baby's heartbeat. That will be an exciting experience to actually hear your child.

Once we are able to scan the picture of her first ultrasound we'll post them on here. Until then, let us know your opinion on a few of the baby names that we are considering by voting on the polls on the left hand side of the page. Brooke is still looking for new names to consider so we may add/remove names over the next 8 months. By the way, regardless of which name wins the online poll, Brooke and I reserve the right to pick which name we like! :) But we are interested in your opinions.

Regards,
Matt & Brooke (the happy parents)
